Had a really great cold soup recently. Cantaloupe melon, cucumber, dill and IIRC some crème fraîche. Not sure on the seasoning, so imrpvise (maybe a pinch cayenne). Blend, serve cold. It was so good. Gotta try to make it soon.

How did you season them? They look nice.

olive oil, butter, garlic. then the mushrooms (shittake and chanterelle) with some sage. i like breadcrumbs in the mix, but I didn't have any on hand. salt and pepper, obviously.

had an awesome anniversary dinner at Charlie Bird in NYC.

consumed:
4 oysters, only for me. they were excellent, and exactly the type of oyster i enjoy (more firm yet briny)
live diver scallop (surprisingly rich)
fluke ceviche
farro salad
chicken liver with toast
duck egg spaghetti with uni and spring onions
corn with chanterelles
stuffed squash blossoms
lemon-pistachio cake

to be fair, i just copied that description from the online menu. A few of the plates on there were different from the current menu, and I didn't notice any spring onions in the dish, so I'm just assuming it changed for the season. Even if it didn't, it was still fucking delicious.

"Spring" probably just refers to new onions, which can be grown both in Spring and Fall.

Sounds like a nice meal. I had sweetbreads tonight.

you should have dinner there sometime. A+ example of a superb wine list for a "small" restaurant.
