Past few days: Shakshuka, Plenty's cauliflower salad, Julia Child's mousse au chocolat and some other stuff.

Shakshuka is one of the best quick weeknight meals in my rotation. So good.

once mgm returns to Kitchen Arts and Letters, he should go to this place a block away that makes a killer shakshuka. My israeli friends (ok, friend) from work raved about it.

Thanks, I'll remember that next time I'm there. Pretty soon actually.. The last time I tried going a few weeks ago they were still closed on summer vacation..

How is Super Taste? I am thinking of visiting my friend in Chinatown soon. Sort of want to find a place with good (authentic) noodles.

i have no idea how authentic it is, i just devour it without prejudice. spicy beef soup for win. had it again last night, and the wife had the veggie soup with egg. both were awesome. cost me $9.50 total.

i dont care how "authentic" it is. it's fucking delicious

i also went to xi'an in queens recently. a real hole in the wall (or rather run down chinese mall) if i've ever seen one. the noodles were excellent. they also had a tv that played on loop all the tv segments that ever featured xi'an.

+1

I mostly cook the one from Plenty (and add some harissa/some more cumin). Wasn't too fond of the one in Jerusalem. Any other good recipes?

Some recent dinners this week.

If you're in an expensive restaurant and the head of the table is wearing a wife beater, i.e. the one who's paying the bill, it doesn't really matter what you wear.

Happy Teachers Day!

Hee haw!

Not just wearing a wife beater but also scratching his arm pit.

Kinda looks like he's cupping his teet.

why is the MikeDT pic-ban not being enforced? Because DeBlasio won?
Because of the First Amendment?

Then again, he lives in China.

I, for one, appreciate the juxtaposition of the food he eats vs. the dishes everyone else posts.

whatever the reason, it's definitely not that.

Curious about the MikeDT pic ban - apparently I missed the backstory.

Anyway, last night dinner was at The Hart and The Hunter (on Melrose in LA). Tasty:

Assorted pickles.
Seafood hushpuppies.
Shrimp boil.
Cornbread with honey butter.
Icebox lemon pie.
