They look beautiful, especially that salad.. what's in it? What are the deep-fried croquette looking things? And the green things in the last picture.

Sure.

The top pic is Barazushi...also known as Chirashi Sushi. Basically it is sushi rice with some egg, ginger, mushrooms, raw salmon and salmon roe.

The deep fried things are actually just some chicken nuggets...those, and the sausages, were for the kids.

Middle pic is clams steamed in sake and butter.

The fritter thing in the last pic is kind of a tempura with fava beans and shrimp.

And the spring rolls were kind of Vietnam inspired...with shrimp and rice noodles inside.

Had take-away from the Dixie Kitchen: Blackened Tilapia with red beans and rice and fried sweet plantaines.

Finighed the night with dark chocolate and cherry "bark" with a couple glasses of Bodegas Borsoa Crianza 2005.

Last night I made Chicken francaise and linguini. The sauce was basically 1 stick of melted butter, 1/2 cup white wine, and I squeezed two lemons worth of juice in there. Brought the sauce to a simmer and then dumped it into the pasta and let it reduce for a couple minutes. The batter for the chicken was 4 eggs, white wine, 1/2 lemon juice, olive oil, parmesan cheese, garlic, salt, and pepper. Floured, battered, and fried the chicken in olive oil. It was pretty good.

$5.79 for a frozen pizza! Did you buy it at 7-11? What a rip-off!

Do you use extra lite olive oil for frying or something?

Not sure, whatever I have in the cupboard (I'll check later).

Basically. A corner grocery store. I had a slight lapse in judgement after coming home drunk.

If this is the place in Evanston, I know it. Have only eaten breakfast there. The cheese grits are fantastic.

Shrimp scampi, crusty bread, Saranac Pale Ale. Simple dinners are great.
