I went to Alma de Cuba several times even before I moved to Philly and really liked it. It is too deliberately loud in its desperate attempt to be hip, but I guess that's what you get with a Stephen Starr restaurant. The food is genuinely good--or at least it was when I went. Strangely, it's one of those places that I like but just somehow forget to frequent. Maybe I'll go back soon for some ceviche.
Addendum: just took a look at the menu online and remembered why I'm hesitant to go to Starr restaurants--the 5x retail wine markups. (Although a lot of Philly restaurants are like this, ugh.)Edited by erictheobscure - 3/3/13 at 8:39am
