^ Greek? I just had some as well:

Charbroiled chicken, salad, olives, feta. Dolma with tsatziki for appetizers.

Had kind of an odd meal tonight... We started out with marinated sardines and salt and vinegar chips with a couple of beers. Then we made two pizzas, one with sausage and broccoli rabe and the other with tomatos and cheese. Finally, we made a blueberry coffee cake for desert. I am not sure it will all settle well together.

Had roasted chicken on mashed sweet potatoes at a Spanish/Morrocan restaurant, along with some Francesco Rinaldi & Figli number. Dessert was a flourless chocolate cake that was very chocolatey. Now I'm just fat and happy.

Is there such a thing as Vietnamese BBQ, or is it just grilled meat?

youre VNese right? This could drift into an unintentionally semantic discussion over 'what is a barbecue'... One of those places with the little grills on your table, bring everything over raw, and you cook it yourself. Bun/banh mi thit nuong, chicken skewers, shrimp skewers...that kind of stuff.

IC. Yeah, I'm Viet. But I'm also a bit of a cook, so I try to be precise in my terminology. BBQ isn't BBQ without some smoking. So, if it's on the grill without the smoke, it's grilling; if it's been smoked (with a rub, usually) before grilling, then it's BBQ. Grilling is universal, BBQ is sort of unique to America.

well then you know exactly the sort of place I mean, and you know just how much smoke gets generated. Nights at those places tend to end early cos everyone walks away stinking like smoke....

Indeed. The other residential foodies (gdl203, SoCal) need to step up and start snapping photos of their feasts. Asian chicks' style.
