Had foie gras for the first time Friday night. It's pretty good, but I don't see what all the hype is about.

For me, what it's served with is just as important. I've had it a number of times, but the first time I had it I didn't think it was that great. I tried it again at another restaurant and it was a much much better dish.

Spinach gnocchi with a gorgonzola cream sauce, and an excellent 2001 Tuscan red that did a pretty good impression of Barolo for $14.

Barolo is a cold climate wine, Tuscan wines are hot climate wines.
