Thanks!
Oops! On re-reading this page I just saw that I got the size recommendation wrong: A C&J 8½ UK should translate to a 9½ for the Nottingham.

I hope my confusion didn't cause anybody to get the wrong size

How does the Lowndes fit compared to the Savile?

What shoe trees work best for these? Where can I get them?

You could get it in "F", which is the UK equivalent for US "E"

For those yet to own the Lowndes..just happened upon this nice Japan site. Lots of beauty shots.

BEFORE CLICKING...just a word..each of the pages loaded very slow over here, so be patient.
Also, when viewing all the beauty shots, Right-click and select 'Open in new window' for each.
This will save you re-loading the main pages over again.
Actually the reason the pages originally load so slow is partly due to the fact that each of the beauty shots are being loaded in the backbround, so right-clicking on each once the main pages have loaded, will yeild instantaneous results.

There are also some other C&J shoes at the bottom of each page. Happy viewing.

There are 2 sellers on ebay who pick up nearly-as-good seconds and sell them for about 30-40 GBP off retail price. Keep an eye out....some interesting ones come up in your size from time to time.

Shipping I believe is 20 GBP which takes a chunk out of the savings. Not much savings for a pair of seconds. I prefer to wait for sales. This past summer I was able to get a pair of C&J Drummonds (firsts not seconds) from Bodiley's during their summer sale for 204 GBP with free shipping. The only problem is they might not have the shoe you want in your size.

why are you guys ordering from plal instead of c&j?
Plal was cheaper. This is an old thread in any case.

The age of the thread should not be an issue in this case as it is a consolidated thread about this specific company and model. It is better to have one good thread on one subject than 500 small threads about the same thing. Wouldn't you agree?
The age of the thread was relevant to mention in the context of the question. Plal did offer cheaper shoes than C&J direct and were able to ship them to many places once upon a time...

This has no bearing on the overall purpose of this thread which is welcome.

How wonderful then that we have this thread to update. smile.gif

Does Barneys stock the Lowndes in NYC? How about the C&J Store (NYC)? If I walk into either store, what can I expect to pay retail for these in USD? Anyone? Thanks! I have no reservations about ordering online without trying on to save some cash (I'm a pretty consistent UK 7.5 depending on Shoe maker sizing, in this case US + 1), but it seems like the only two options online now are Pediwear (no UK7.5 available) and Ebay. Starting to lean more towards Carmina anyways if I'm going to be dropping ~$500 new anyways....... Not sure I'm sold on the 348 last from pictures alone...
