No love for Gil Scott Heron? I'd say he's the original rapper...

I was hoping you ran with the Ice Pick name when mentioning him to other people.
Well Gil is superior to any rapper and he wasn't technically rapper.

Ice-T, not Ice Cube. He's always liked the pin-up fantasy types (see wife #1 and #2 below)

I am shocked and dismayed over the
lack of love for Rakim in this poll so far. His delivery, flow, message, and presence on the mic is what most of these lesser emcees in this poll are trying to emulate.

Then again, i voted for Rick because while not as technically proficient and legendary, he's the best storyteller of all time and his voice and delivery are amazing IMO. One of the few rappers on this list who chose to make their own style instead of copying or emulating someone elses.

I like Rakim (don't sweat the technique), but still put Chuck D above him. And everyone else.

I disagree greatly with you there. Seeing you reminded me I should have included Ghostface.

Well, legendary in the aspect that in any discussion of "greatest rappers of all time" Ricky Dee is usually slept on. Rakim is not.

Do half of you even know who Rakim is?

And while i think GFK is one of the best and most unique and talented rappers out there today, i dont think he belongs on this list... Then again, i could say the same about a lot of the other people on this list, as I'm sure most people would agree.

Hell, I'm iffy on Hova... and he's a frontrunner.
