Music, clothes...are they related?

I thought about this thread topic months ago, but after reading some new posts in WAYWT I was reminded of it....

For me music and fashion go hand in hand. I post what's playing on my computer whilst I'm uploading my photo's, it's as important a criteria as the shoes or belt I'm wearing when it comes to presenting my aesthetic. PG has his car and pens and cologne which makes sense in his contributions, musicical taste is no different.

How much (if any) does the music you listen to relate to the clothes you wear?

And do you dress differently on days you listen to certain styles of music? (for example, put on a more "indie rock" style on days you listen to Indie rock vs dressing more "goth" on days you listen to that)

It's obvious music and style go hand in hand for me, one wouldnt exist without the other. I'd also say that my clothes mirror whatever style of music I am listening to more of at that time. For example, if I'm listening to a lot of soul/60s RnB I will dress a bit sharper.....if I'm listening to a lot of oi/punk then I tend to dress more down. Same goes for copious amounts of indie rock vs rockabilly. It probably looks the same to the casual viewer but it feels completely different to me.

It doesn't for me.

I listen to all kinds of shit and has no influence on how I dress.

you mean you aren't inspired to wear anything special when rocking out to this?

I'm not even going to click on your fav band music this time.

It doesn't anymore, but it did when I was enamored with Hardcore and its culture.

Music only influences what you wear as much as that artist pushes clothing they're paid to wear. I listen to much too many kinds of music to say it (or allow) influences what I wear.

There's definitely certain clothing types associated with certain types of music, and my style is probably slightly influenced by my taste in music, but I don't think the two are especially connected.

Maybe you're listening to different artists than some of us, eason.

maybe for the clueless sect, but I think a lot of guys that are inspired by music arent inspired by a particular artist, but moreso by the lifestyle that the artist represents so it has nothing to do with getting paid to wear clothes

I think that listening to many different genres and being interested in the characters and stories behind the music has only been helpful in opening my eyes to the different looks and personal styles they had.

Not really. I'm just as likely to dress up in jeans and a band tee while listening to a Segovia recording as I am to wear CBD while listening to a local indie band.

I think this was more true back in college when I wore many, many band tees and mixed them with the indie uniform. Problem is my tastes are way too eclectic in clothes and in music for one to really influence the other. I wore boots before listening to Townes Van Zandt and was listening to Bauhaus before I bought Rye's waxed Rokara jacket.

I've pretty much listened to hard rock/heavy metal since I was 12 but have never found myself wearing stuff a stereotypical fan would wear... in fact one look at what I wear and "adult contemporary" springs to mind.

I listen to hip-hop 90% of the time, and lots of them hip-hop kids try to give me shit for what I wear. Answer is no for me. It's a yes for lots of people, especially young ones.

I listen to a bunch of diff music and I dont think any has an influence on the way I dress but I can understand how it can come hand in hand to some people. I myself have never really liked the indie look or rock look or whatever although there are people who do pull it off really well.
