New guy, Schott 118 fit (or should I go 618?)

Hey, new guy here!

What do you think of the fit of this brand new size 46 Schott 118? I measured myself, and my chest is a 44 (45 with a full breath of air). The salesman thought this 46 looked better on me, and it did fit better with a sweatshirt underneath. But, the 44 fit pretty good with a t-shirt, but was tight with a sweatshirt.

Sitting on my bike, the zipper area pokes into the "sensitive" area a bit. I'm not sure a 44 would be different in that regard. I know that I cannot gain weight because of some health concerns; in fact, I've been losing weight (from 213 to my present 198). I probably should lose another 10 pounds if my doctor had his way.

A problem is that the store is about an hour away, so I can't ride my bike there with the jacket on and then try the other one (they obviously wouldn't let me exchange a worn jacket).

So anyway, looks good? Should I return it and get a 44? Should've I bought a 618 for the different cut? Never tried a 618 on before, but the 125 I tried seemed quite big around the waist.

Too floppy? Care to elaborate?

There seems to be an excess of leather in the chest area, and the armholes appear on the large side, which probably accounts for the bunching around the arm areas. If you spread your arms way apart, there will most likely be a severe taper from the chest to the waist. That's where the "weirdness" comes in, because leather doesn't exactly bunch well. So where the surface should be smooth, it instead looks wrinkled and chaotic.

^yea, this. waist seems fine but there is too much leather in the chest and upper arm area.

I think the fit is horrible all over, and I'm a motorcycle rider. I looked at schott, while nice leather, I would never ride in a jacket with no armor and the fits are pretty lousy when in riding position. Do yourself a favor and buy a real motorcycle jacket, it will be more fitted for sure.

I agree, the fit is way off... A motorcycle jacket is suppose to be very fitted, in case you go down you don't want the jacket to be riding up... Take it from me I've been in a motorcycle accident, fortunately I was wearing a Vanson jacket which fit nice and snug... I walked away with only a couple bruises... After examining the jacket I realized that if i had not been wearing it I would have suffered from a severe case of road rash..

It's too baggy. Definitely try the 44 or maybe even a 42. Leather will stretch out a bit.

The waist looks like it fits because the belt is pulled tight. You can see there is extra room in the waist where the leather is bunched up under the belt.

Like mentioned above, if you're going to actually be riding a motorcycle with this I'd look into a proper motorcycle jacket with armor.

Thx guys for the feedback. I returned it as the next size down didn't "feel" right either. Perhaps I'm more of an Aero Long Half Belt guy.
