related question, what is the preferred brand of fish oil capsules? I'm currently on Kirkland signature.

Correction:

Was mentally reading "fish oil" as DHA/EPA quantity. Apologies.

Significantly therapeutic level for Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega: 4 to 8 Soft Gels (4-8 g total oil).

For NKO Krill oil (Thorne Research, Nature's Way etc.): 4 Soft Gels (2 g total oil).

About 3000mg a day.

For those of you that want to eat actual fish, be careful. Make sure it is from clean waters (hard to find) and not farmed. Farmed fish are cheaper, but they swim around in their own feces and are much higher in omega-6, not to mention they taste awful. They actually dye farmed salmon pink and if you compare it to wild salmon you'll notice a huge difference.

There was a study done last year showing the high mercury and other toxins found in large predatory fish and and farmed fish negated the positive effects of the Omega-3's.

+1 on Carlsons, I personally take 1500mg a day, max.

Precisely. Source is paramount. Select wild from sustainably harvested fisheries and focus on species that eat low on the food chain (Sockeye Salmon, Skipjack Tuna etc.).

You need 1 - 2 grams of EPA/DHA. Take as many fish oil caps as you need to equal that amount.

For maximum uptake, it is important that you break open at least three capsules daily and rub the contents on your face, in your hair, and on your privates.
