so, have ya seen the latest Bond watch? - Page 2

Foxx, this is an interesting watch, but clearly misses "dress watch" status on a number of points: (a) it's much too large at 45.5 mm. case diameter; (b) it has a black face (the ideal dress watch has a light-colored face), (c) it has a functional bezel with numbers on it, clearly indicating that it's not a dress watch, (d) it has a functional knob on the 9 o'clock side, and (e) it lacks the leather strap that is absolutely mandatory for a true dress watch.

not a fan either. the watch looks a little bland, yet tacky.... very much like the new bond movies actually.

Agreed with many of the others. I'd take my Speedmaster over that any day.

Might as well go for the full Sator effect and exclusively wear a pocketwatch for dressier occasions.

re: the Planet Ocean, I think it's one of the best sportwatch designs in recent times... But the 42mm version looks much more proportionate (and smaller-wrists-friendly) to my eyes. Here's a good pictorial comparison of the 42mm and 45mm model. The orange bezel 42mm is also the best looking of the lineup, IMO.

You're kidding, right? If not, that's a completely over-the-top comment. That watch is neither tasteless nor awful. It's just not a dress watch. BTW, COSC chronometer standards are -4 sec. to +6 sec. per day. I agree that a watch with a chronograph function would be less than ideal for a dress watch, but can't see why a watch certified as a chronometer would necessarily fall short.

Actually I prefer a true dress wristwatch for the dressiest and most formal occasions.

Dear Roger,

It is the horological equivalent of a child predator stroking himself in public..

The 007 on the seconds hand is somewhere between uncool, kitsch and hideous. Like the plain black face though still consider the 007 hands a deal killer.

Not to offend those who like this watch, but frankly, it looks like something Fossil or Swatch would sell. It just looks too cartoony and 'graphic'. I think sport watches look best when they're austere and straightforward.

I don't know what it says about me, but I really like it.... (the JLC).

I think the PO is a beautiful watch in both sizes. But the image they're showing is not the 45.5 (Bond size) but the 42.5. Both look nice. The smaller is probably a better balance for most people.

The bezel teeth are the easiest way to tell which size you're looking at, by the way.
