EDIT: Yes, Tata Motors had struck a deal with ford (2.3 Billion USD) to take over of Land Rover and Jaguar!! Link: http://www.businessweek.com/globalbi...326_384146.htm

Yes, I believe they did get sold. We'll see how it affects their design/performance.

But, from 1994-2008 or so, they've been safely with Ford and more boring every year. True, they won't break down as much, but Jaguar owners expect everything to fall apart! It was part of the charm...

IMO Jaguar had gotten somewhat boring long before the buyout. Outside of the XJ-coupes, they stayed stale and unimaginative for over 20 years. I personally think they're current line-up is one of the sportier lines they've had since the 60's.

.....although I wouldn't wouldn't be opposed to seeing a compact V-12 stuffed under the hood of the modern XJ'S.

I agree. The current line-up looks much better, and a return to V-12s would be nice.

Fair enough. Still, though, I like the 1987 XJ6... it has a boxy, but still sort of sleek, look that I find interesting.

It was the stylings of such cars as the Lexus LS400 that hurt Jaguar. In present times, the premium luxury market buyers prefer the sleek styling of the Benz-S series or BMW 7-series.

....Personally, I'm more enamored with the classic understated elegance of the XJ's.

It certainly has the iconic nose styling of a Lambo. I like it.
