Nobody's started this thread yet? Let me just take this time to say, DODGERS! WOOOOHOOOO!

Go Blue. Seriously, the first win blew away my expectations. The second win blew my mind.

I'm not all that surprised that the Dodgers have done well. I think too many people focused on their record, and not on the larger circumstances. For one, I think the Dodgers are the only team that got completely healthy just in time for the post season, and that has their top 3 starters all healthly and pitching well down the stretch. Rafael Furcal just got back during the last weekend of the season. With him and Manny in the lineup they really don't have a single soft spot from 1 - 8. With Nomar and Kent on the bench, suddenly they're pretty deep and have dangerous pinch hitters. Billingsley has flown under the radar all year, but he's a legitimate ace. The only area of concern is the bullpen, with Kuo out and Saito still coming back from his elbow problems. Still, the Dodgers probably have fewer roster concerns than any team in the Post-Season.

I guess this might not be the year for the Cubbies

That Tampa-White Sox game was a classic playoff game. It had a little of everything. Of course, I am hoping the Angels Knock off the Red Sox but a Tampa/Red Sox championship series would be exciting. The Cubbies look like they're about to lose and then Pinella will be on the hottest seat that city has produced in a long time...mediawise. Seeing Torre in the world series the year after we dumped him will be a real lesson to the Steinbrenners about how to run a baseball team in the modern era.

Let's go Mets!

That was about as tragic a let down as I have ever seen in sports. Honestly, in the NYC area, only the Jets have delivered for let downs like this. And then of course, they have the Shea closing ceremony after the game, which most people must have been sick during. Giving Minaya that 4 year extension was a mistake. He over traded that team. I guess the Mets will be in the Sabbathia and Manny Sweepstakes.

That was the sorriest excuse for baseball by a good team I've seen in a very long time. Just depressing. I was born a Cubs fan. They were so bad that I think "cubs baseball" can now legitimately be used in place of "sh#t" or "sh#tty." This morning on the way to the train, I saw a big pile of cubs baseball.

^^^ The defensive collapse wasn't pretty, but it just turned a 5-3 loss into a 10-3 loss. They weren't going to score much off of Billingsley last night, and Zambrano only had 1 good start in the last month of the season. I wouldn't be surprised if they found some damage in his shoulder as soon as the season ends.

They have to forget Sabbathia. Sure, bid him up for the Yanks to spend all their money, and then target other pitchers without the Yankees driving prices on those guys up. The Mets have too many needs to spend all their money on one ace.

I agree with what you say but are you forgetting Brad Penny?

This season sorta reminds me of the 88 season. Hope they win one more WS for Vinny and Tommy!!
