From Cal Berkeley's online slang dictionary:
Quote:
tool   n   1. a person who is impressionable, easily used by others; LOSER; WANNA-BE. ("That guy is such a tool. He would do anything to be accepted.")
Also, vulgar for penis. EDIT: doesn't mean I necessarily think the dude in question is a tool.

He likes clothes from a certain era and of a certain style and so wears them.
I file this guy under the same category as guys who have extensive model train sets, take part in Civil War Re-enactments, and/or are members of SCA.

What? No monocle? Give him a couple more years and I believe he will age like C. Montgomery Burns.

Ok, I can't decide which I find more troublesome.  The military unifroms, the poorly lit flash photography, or the fact that all the ties are severly distorted.  Is this some kind of style to wear one's tie in such a fashion? I do like many of the suits, however.

At a minimum he provides some historical value. Give him some credit, there had to be some reason why everyone spent more than 10 seconds on his website. Maybe he went to the extreme (obsessed, or even close to crazy), but he is promoting what you all promote in this forum: being well dressed. Just to take the analogy of those who re-enact civil war battles: at least they provide history channel footage. They preserve what would otherwise have been lost (at least in the masses minds).

Wow, this is vicious. I think his everyday wear is acceptable, though a bit over the top. Let's just say he's trying to throw the average in the right direction. I agree that he goes very wrong with the fancy dress. If it weren't for the fact that the garments are on his person, and featured in slightly said pictures, I think he'd be getting some praise.

Hey man, take it easy. Neil Young is a big model train set enthusiast The stylish gentleman has moved from clothing to costume. It's interesting but self-aware. That said, cheers to him. If he enjoys his hobby then it's all cool...no reason to insult the chap.

Following links furnished here, I have perused the websites of several English firms which make military wear in addition to conventional civilian attire. Call me kooky, but I have enjoyed ogling the dress uniforms of various regiments. You don't have to know anything about military history to see that there is a great tradition going on , and that the uniforms look cool as hell. This guy has actually walked the walk and I can only say good for him. Whatever your opinion of his "everyday" clothing, he seems to wear it with confidence and to derive a lot of pleasure from it. I've heard it said here that that is a good thing.

It's good that he's found something he enjoys, but it strikes me as nerdy beyond belief. Of course this is an online forum dedicated to obsessing over clothing minutiae and nerding out about them, but at least there are auxiliary fora dedicated to fast cars and fast women to complete the aesthetic.
