Some of my clothes say made in Spain, while others say made in Mexico. Derek

I believe its origins are from Spain although it has offices around the world. I only have 3 shirts from them, and they were made in Portugal, Turkey, and Spain.

Their linen goods generally come from China. The Zara stuff I own is badged Spain or Turkey. Peace, JG

Mine say "Made in Spain".

Zara makes stuff all over the place. I have pieces made in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Turkey, Poland and a whole host of other places that don't spring to mind at the moment.

I don't know if the same applies to Spain, but I know there is a lot of old controversy over the "Made in Italy" label on a lot of fashion garments. This is because of some very lax Italian laws that allow companies to say that an item was made in Italy only if it was finally assembled there or something of that nature. It seems that many companies abuse such loopholes to manipulate the buying public into thinking it is a better made garment than what it is. Maybe Zara is utilizing the same game to help them out. Though it is funny how we automatically think that just because it may have been made in a European country it must magically be better. As if there can't be crap sewn and constructed in Spain. Then there is the reverse connotation that China must be filled with only millions of child workers and a Communist regime for anything that comes out of that country must be from a sweatshop. In a way I feel that if the buying public would become more informed instead of just believing the hype this type of shenanigans wouldn't go on.

Then again, what's so special about being made in Italy? Half of Italy is basically a developing country anyway, so it's no big deal. "Made in Switzerland", however, has a much richer ring to it.... (Which is why Zegna's switched so much production from Switzerland to Italy....) Peace, JG
