There was an interesting article in Variety about the actors that play Ari Gold, Alan Shore, Jack Donaghy and Michael Scott on these shows. Jeremy Piven as Ari Gold Costume Designer: Amy Westcott "He wears mostly Italian designers such as Gucci, Prada, and Dolce & Gabbana. Westcott often chooses shades of purple, which she says really compliment Piven." James Spader as Alan Shore Costume Designer: Shelly Levine "All of his suits and shirts are custom-made by Ermenegildo Zenga." Alec Baldwin as Jack Donaghy Costume Designer: Tom Broecker "Ermenegildo Zenga, Brooks Brothers, Dunhill or Hickery Freeman" Steve Carell as Michael Scott Costume Designer: Carey Bennett "Suits from JCPenny, purposely fitting poorly to match the job description."

I don't think his suits fit that poorly, he looks better dressed than 90% of the people I see walking around in suits.

I know, I can't believe they are JC Penny. They are cut conservatively but they definitely fit.

According the Fall 2007 issue of the now-defunct Classic Style Magazine, the characters in Mad Men wear vintage clothing with the only contemporary items being some shirts from Brooks Brothers.

Ari's suits usually look pretty good but his ties are consistently horrible.

+1 - the knot is usually waay too big and the tie always seems too wide.

Who makes the suits/shirts for William Shatner in Boston Legal? He's always so colorful.
