I go to Pelligrini's for an espresso if I am staying at the Windsor, which is just around the corner... but it's a long way to travel for a coffee if he's staying at South Yarra.

There are a fair few nice places to eat around Sth Yarra, and you can easily jump on a tram to take you to St Kilda - nice bars, live music, cake shops and cafes, plus a knock-off of Luna Park and a beach of sorts!

Is Smokehouse Pizza still there? I used to love that place, but I heard that Fab and Lil (owners and old friends of mine) had split up, so not sure what became of it in the division of common property thingy...

Well I have been here 3 days and I have been most impressed. I am thinking of a new thread to detail the thoughts of a Sydney sider first time 'properly' in Melbourne for the record.

Was wondering however what bars are worth frequenting on a Sunday night? (how much i needed this info last night). I read up that Mink is one and was thinking Paris Cat. Unfortunately did not venture out as did not want to go out blind .

Enjoyed the Gin Palace on Friday and the Wine Room on Saturday. Espresso at Pellegrini's today.......back to Sydney Tuesday.......I shall return.

Apparently it is still there, though the last guy that reviewed it wasn't very praiseworthy...

Had I seen this earlier I would have recommended the windsor ... apparently it is absolutely chockers on a Sunday afternoon ... but ah well.

Next time your down give us some advanced notice and we'll organise a SF Melbourne meetup!

Aiming for a similar time - I'll probably stay at the Melbourne Club (bizarre reciprocity deal - more AAAC that SF) would be a great place to have a lunch! I always enjoy it.
