Red Wing Iron Ranger Boots - what's the dilly yo? - Page 35

Just got my Beckmans in Cigar Featherstone. I have some Dr. Martens Wonder Balm that is still about half full from 8 years ago. Is this ok to use on my new boots? Coconut oil, lanolin, & beeswax are the ingredients.

I sized down from what i usually wear in shoes. I have a pair of Johnston & Murphy dress shoes in 9, and my Beckmans are 8.5 and fit much better than the 9's I tried on first.

I love mine... But I'm guessing that after 35 pages, I won't be able to say anything about them that hasn't been said already... I chose them over Wolverine 1000 mile boots because I didn't want a leather sole, but the finish was nicer on the 1000 mile boots. When they need replacing, I'm going to get a pair of Corcoran historic jump boots instead...

Any info on sizing? I don't have time to run through 35 pages.Do they run true to size or do they run big? Thanks Jim

They run 1/2 size big.  If you have wider feet consider 2E width when you size down.

How do the Iron Rangers compare to the 877s regards sizing? True to size or size even half a size down from the 877s size?

I haven't tried the pairs side by side, but when I tried on a pair of 875s (same last as 877) in size 9.5EE, I found they were a tad long and really wide (I have narrow feet though).

By comparison, the IRs in 9.5D I tried were also a tad long, but much, much narrower than the 875.

Hopefully someone else can give you a better comparison, but for length, I'd say they run approximately the same. IRs might be a tiny bit longer.

if it helps, i'm a 10 in 875's and 1907's (i realize 1907's are on a different last than 875/877), and a 9.5 in iron rangers.

I have 8138 (same as 875 I'm pretty sure) and Iron Rangers in the same size.

The Iron Rangers are definitely a tiny bit longer but also narrower through the arch.

I wear the same size in Wolverine 1K Miles and Danner Mountain Lights as well if that helps at all.

Has anyone put any Obenaufs LP on the black chaparral leather? How does it turn out? My boots are new and are kinda have a shine to them. It doesn't appear to be a oiled leather. Any insight would be great.
