BUT I have super narrow feet, so width isn't an issue.

Thanks for the info.

I think I have narrow feet too. My 8.5 came and I have some noticeable heel slip, but I heard that is normal? I don't know how these are supposed to fit lol

when I put on the boots and push my feet all the way to the toe, i can fit 1 finger loosely in the back, you think thats too big?

It all depends whether your feet are moving towards the toe while your walking.  If they stay snug by your heel without any slippage, you'll be fine, you'll just have a lot of toe room, more than you're used to.  That's how mine are.  I have more toe room in my IR's than I've ever had in any other boot, but by heel doesn't slip, and the wide part of my foot fits perfect.

Another sizing question.

I typically wear a 9.5 in shoes, and 9 in boots. I tried on the IR's in 9 and 8.5 over the weekend. The 9's had a slight amount of heel slip. The 8.5's didn't have any heel slip, which was nice, but they were definitely putting pressure on the balls of my feet...in the toe box I suppose. Neither felt too short, and I was wearing thick REI hiking socks.

There isn't a RW where I live, and I happened to be in NYC. Unfortunately my time at the store was short and the guy was attempting the hard sell on me, so I didn't stick around to ask many question...he didn't seem to have advice either way.

I'm guessing I could go 9, and get an insert, but I would really like to get the broken in feel once the footbed molds to your foot.

Any advice?

Thanks,

Kyle

Lascaux, it sounds like your boots are approximately the same fit as the ones I sent back for half a size smaller.

I had a little bit of heel slip and could almost squeeze two fingers behind my heel. They also had a slightly loose feeling in areas. my thinking was that if I was in a store, I would have asked to try a half size smaller, so I sent them back.
Will post my findings as soon as the smaller size arrives

@DesmondD That sounds good man, when do you think they will come by I am very interested in your results!

Also, I am going to wear them with the laces loose (I like the look) so I am probably going to size down as well.

Actually, I was hoping they'd be here earlier this week - gonna give Red Wing Australia a call today and find out where they are...

Will let you know when they get here and I give them a try.

Red Wing reckon they're still 10 days away from getting the IR sz9  back in stock... meaning they're about 3 weeks from getting to me. Sorry lascaux - I'm not gonna be too much help to you, I'd imagine...

doubt it, red wing stores are mostly independently owned, but give your local store a call and ask.

Does anyone else notice how the Amber Harness color has two different "shades"?

Personally, I've owned about three different pairs since it was tough for me to find the right size. The first pair was darker and had a nice maroon sheen to it. The second pair was lighter and looked "flat". My third and current pair is pretty much the same.

I'm seeing some people's brand new pairs on here and some have that maroon sheen, while others (like me) have the lighter shade.

Sorry, just wanting to put this out there.

maybe it's the lighting and camera quality?

No two hides are exactly the same. They are all approximately the same color, but you will always see variance in color
