fwiw,

i just received a pair of 10's in black harness and they're way too big.  i sent them back for 9.5, and there's a slight chance i might need 9's.

i'm a 10 in rw 875

10 in clarks db

10 in ll bean katahdin

10.5 in nike free

10.5 in jack purcell's

Let me know how the 9.5s are.. I can def wear my 10 clarks db with no socks for a perfect fit and my nike frees are about 1 size larger than yours...otherwise we are similar in shoe type/size. Additionally, I just got the following reply back from Red Wings Cust Support. "... If you currently wear a size 10 in style 1907, you will want to stick with size 10 for the Iron Rangers..."  Seems to go against what some say on the forum..

Just bit the bullet and ordered a pair of 8111s from Australia's only RW dealer.

Got them in a size 9 (1 down from my normal shoe size) and will post pics and sizing/fit info when they get here.

My experience with Iron Rangers:  I LOVE the way they look, and tried several different sizes and widths trying to get a fit, but finally gave up.  I have always worn a 10D in work boots, including most recently Chippewas and before that an older pair of moc toe Red Wings.  I found the Iron Rangers to be slightly long, and VERY narrow.  A 9.5 seemed about the right length, but even with a EE width, they were too narrow.  I held them up to my Chippewas, and clearly the EE Iron Rangers were still more narrow than the D-width Chippewas.

I finally gave up on the IRs, though I still think are great boots if you can get them to fit, especially in black...

I am now going to try out some Beckman's, which seem to be built on a different last.  Hopefully they will fit the bill.

I just got a pair of 1907's last night that i'm wearing right now, and they are definitely tight on me, and the loop holes on the iron rangers were almost overlapping in 10  so definitely not always true, at least for me.  my 875's were also very tight in 10, but my feet were just swimming in size 10 black iron rangers.

i will post reflections on 9.5's as soon as i get them

Agree on the comment about additional length in the IR compared with other boots in the same size. Since length was about spot on with the 9.5 but the rest of the shoe was tight, I do have a question about what portion of the shoe is 'wider' with the EE.  May be a logical next step to try on the 9.5 EE before just accepting the additional length of the 10.

My 1907's size 10 were tight in the beginning, wore them with thick socks around the condo at night for about a week, then wore them outside... they are near perfect now.  The toe area breaks in nicely in the width. I applied 1 coat of Mink Oil which did help shorten the break in.
