I'm also a huge fan of Thurston braces, and have a pair of the purple boxcloth. Â I have a question about the boxcloth braces: how much fabric is supposed to hang down from the levers? Â With mine, the excess fabric hangs down almost to where the gut ends attach to my pants. Â If that's too long (frankly, I don't mind it), should I attempt to cut them, or just buy a smaller size? Â Thanks.
Boxcloth Tab ends - You can cut them down as long as you achieve the same half moon shape. They were originally made this way so your tailor could do this simple adjustment for you. However I have noted over the years that whenevever I see them being worn by the British aristocracy they tend to let the unadjusted tab hang down. Outside the trouser, of course. Or the portrayal of Lord Kilwillie in the BBC drama 'Monarch of the Glen'. Probably will not be posting much for a month as am travelling about, but will try and answer any other queries in March when I get back. Toodle Pip.
