Stuff Styleforvm overrates - Page 5

On one end of the spectrum, Styleforum consistently overvalues bespoke, and on the other end, bargains. They are actually related sentiments based on a miscontrued definition of "quality".

My favorite two common sentiments on Styleforum:
"For that money (for Thom Browne., Tom Ford, Lanvin,) you may as well get bespoke."
and
"You are overpaying for XYZ brand (using Zegna, Canali, or another mid-tier Italian maker). You can easily get those on Ebay for under $500."

This I don't get - and it seems to get posted alot. With the right product, it's a snap. See this thread for pics:

If it helps at all, to say the shell cordovan spotted in rain is not correct....the FINISH of the shell cordovan spotted in the rain. Each factory finishes the leather differently, and one factory in particular adds what appears to be ALOT of extra color onto the shells before processing. Perhaps this is the problem. I know mine clean up at least as easy as calfskin shoes.

Quality in place of actually looking good, when it comes to denim.

I don't think that any woman is complete until she has been taken down that road.

Padless shoulders. It is not suitable for all shoulder types.

I make no claims to length but in terms of girth it is the penile version of Chris Farley. Women like the girth.

Allen Edmonds I could never wear either because they are too old-fashioned looking.

Love knit ties though.

I think he was joking
