Did I irreparably damage the shirt by tumble drying it?

Did you tumble dry it in high heat or no heat? What type of fabric is it?

It's cotton, and I used heat, although I don't know if you'd call it high heat.

Normally, plain cotton will just shrink. However, some fabric is weaved (or even just the stitching) using different type of threads. They may shrink/stretch in different rates upon exposure to heat, thus rippling. Depending on severity of the problem, it may or may not be curable. Try rewash it in cold water, then hang dry or tumble dry with no heat. If that doesn't help, I don't know what can.

That's a pretty rare occurrence with a 100% cotton shirt. If it shrank to the point of no longer fitting properly, it's effectively ruined for you. Did it?

Beyond that, if it has "ripples," have you tried a steam iron?

Oh yeah, I ironed out the ripples. I scorched the collar slightly. How do I get THAT out?

What's my best choice for dress shirts with nice patterns? I can't really spend more than 30-40$ per shirt. My wardrobe is severely lacking patterned shirts... I've been watching ebay for CT and TP shirts but none have come up that are my size. Any other alternatives? Yeah, I'm broke.

Hit a few thrift stores if you want to get a number of shirts on the cheap. For the price of one 30-40$ shirt you can get 10. If you take your time, be patient, dig, and find good fitting shirts in fairly new condition you will look as good or better than people making a lot more than you.

I do thrift, alot. The main problem is I wear shirts size 14.5/32.... Slim fitted, if possible. So it's very hard to find shirts that fit me, ESPECIALLY in thrift stores where everything is XXXXXXXXL. But I'll keep trying....

Have you taken any shirts that could benefit from slimming down by a local tailor? I have had shirts and a sweater slimmed down after thrifting. Total cost was still a fraction compared to new. I'm not poor just thrifty.
