Looking to buy my first pair of Allen Edmonds (PA)
Never really bought dress sneakers before, but I wear a 9.5 in sneakers (nikes), ive read to size down a half size or so for dress shoes.....so would a 9D be a safe bet?

Not necessarily. With the Park Avenue, it will depend a lot on the shape of your foot. The shoe has a low instep, so it's not very forgiving if you guess a size too small. I'd recommend ordering for somewhere that has a good return policy if you're buying online.

Where is the cheapest place (besides ebay) to obtain the Crockett & Jones Lowndes? I've read of people getting them for as low as 330USD, yet pLAL and pediwear list them for 400USD. Thanks!

I asked a few pages back on shortening a tie and I must say, thank you to whomever it was that responded as the result is charming. @DeminDan, I too would recommend better fitting pants.

Do you have a Zara or H&M near where you live? They aren't drop-in replacements for A/X (and that's a good thing), but there's some overlap. In your price range you might also look at Express.

I'm looking at a wool, tan colored suit that would need the pant's waist and length let out. Should there be any problem with there being evidence of these alterations?

So I've looked through the archives several times and conducted a few Google searches, but I cannot find a definitive answer to this question: can a tailor slim down the arms of a dress shirt? If so, is this an easy procedure, or something very complicated to do?

i have a really nice cashmere knit, but i don't like the neck hole. it's too small and round. i would like to show a little shirt and tie when wearing it.
how do i make the hole bigger and maybe get a v-shape? can i do this myself or do i need to take it to a tailor?

This isn't really a common or easy alteration because the sleeve connects to the cuff on one end and the arm hole on the other end, both of which dictate the width or shape of the sleeve at that point and neither of which are easy to alter.

Just arrived in Hong Kong and I'm looking to have a simple, inexpensive summer suit made. Unconstructed jacket lined only in front. Maybe patch pockets. Was hoping to use a nice 9 oz 50% silk/50% cotton twill in a khaki color. That's a very common fabric in the US for off-the-rack sportswear (like Tommy Bahama) but I can't find it here. Tried Sham Shui Po over the weekend but no luck. Can any Hong Kongers point me in the right direction? Also interested in other summer fabrics like linen/cotton, linen/silk, etc. Any ideas? Thanks so much!
