Thanks all!

I was about to post again because I did some browsing here and found most people think it's all right.

Thanks for your quick reply! Much appreciated. I was indeed referring to a leather belt.

As a follow up to his question: I have always wondered why square toe shoes are awful (well I know they are and can see why) BUT how come lasts with a square finish such as that are acceptable and worn by a lot on these forums?

What exactly is the difference between the ones in the picture and the cheap made in China square toe? Besides the quality and stuff....talking only about the shape of the shoe...

This kind of fabric is called birdseye, or nailhead.

I have lost a lot of weight over the last 3 years and have been purchasing new items for my wardrobe, but I have a sport coat that I like the color and pattern of.  I would like to know if a tailor could trim it down to fit me.  I'm currently about 50 (L) and I believe the coat is 54L or 56R.  Not having a local tailor to ask has been a real pain.

If it is one size too big a good tailor can work with it, any more than that you are asking for trouble. I know this from experience. I too lost a lot of weight some time ago and went through the re-buying process. Think of it this way it will give you the incentive NOT to put the weight back on.

You're right, Michael; we don't agree.
Each to his own taste, I suppose.
Best regards,
Nicholas.
