Recently came across a really good deal on a khaki seersucker suit jacket. Would like some recommendations on what pants to pair it with. I think it's the overall light khaki color that has made it feel challenging for me.

Didn't want to start a new thread on this if I didn't have to. :)

If it weren't a deal, would you want a khaki seersucker? Did you want one before you saw how cheap it was?

I would treat it the same as a solid khaki sportcoat. Might work with denim.

I had been wanting a seersucker sportcoat. Was looking for one in blue, but saw the khaki. Figured I would give it a shot in that color. I understand where you are going with that line of questioning, but sometimes we all make adjustments to our original purchasing plans when we find a deal.

Thanks for the advice on denim. I had already figured that would work and maybe some white pants.

The rule hasn't changed, I think, because it's more than a rule a color coordination thing: it just don't look right when we talk about dark brown shoes and black trousers. I wear tan/light brown shoes with black jeans and it looks good.

"Black" jeans are usually dark grey, anyway. This is something you can get away with in a SW&D-type look, but not as much a MC look.

The only way brown with black really works is if that's the concept of the outfit. This usually means the only colors are black and neutrals. It was trendy with women a few years ago to wear black leggings and brown boots.

What do you think??

She looks nice. The guy needs to be wearing black shoes or a brown tie, the outfit has to be tied together for that kind of thing to work.

Also, I still wear black shoes with black jeans. And I would clarify the dark gray bit: Black jeans start off black, then fade into gray. I have a pair I particularly love that has loverly contrast from light gray to charcoal, but they started off pitch black.

Is this a Grenadine Tie? John Vavartos - Nordstrom Just saw it online and am wondering if it's worth the $57.

It is pretty bad, but unfortunately, there's very little you can do about it besides buy a different suit. Sorry, man.

What brands can you recommend for well-made slim fit, plaint-front trousers? BB Milano has already been suggested, but they don't appear to be selling dress pants in that cut anymore. Any other ideas?

An ancient thread but an idea which should be pinned.
