No, that's a self-stripe, meaning the stripe is part of the texture of the fabric and not actually a different color.

Anyone have suggestions for traveling with a suit.

I only have two options, roll it up and put it in a backpack or use a plastic bag to carry it.

I leave Friday evening and the flight is 2 hours, then I have a wedding to attend Saturday at noon.

Don't know what to do and my flight is tomorrow evening.

Search youtube for a "how to fold a suit" video. Should be wearable out of your luggage.

1. I was wondering if it was worth bothering
2. and if so, what would you suggest I do with it. Or am I on the right track?

Let me know of your suggestions, thanks!

I think I like it -- at least the silhouette -- but I reserve my judgement till you show us a sharper photo.

Saw this and will give it a try.

Do you think it will be file to fold it in the morning, then head to work and leave it as such. I'm planning on cutting early from work to go to the airport, so I don't know if having it folded that way the entire day will be an issue.

work from 8-3, then leave straight for the airport. flight is at 5:30.

First, do not try and match it to a pair of black pants. That will not be anything that looks good, nor will it have lasting value in your wardrobe.

Second, forget trying to get a loud tie or crazy shirt to make it more appealing.  See next point.

Finally, if it were me, and I had to keep the black blazer, I would pair it with a pair of gray slacks (medium gray, not too dark and not too light). Then, I would find a complementary shirt/tie combination.  You can bring some color into the shirt/tie, but do not go crazy. Tall, gray socks with polished black leather shoes and a plain black belt.

Importantly, where are you going to wear this?

It's the jacket from a suit (didn't know blazers only referred to standalone jackets...the things you learn)

I have some gray slacks from BR with very, very thin blue cross hatching. I definitely wasn't going to try and match it with black pants (not that much of an idiot). I have plenty of ties and shirts...I guess I'll just try a bunch on until something looks good.

No idea where I'd wear it. Not anywhere formal (and nowhere during the day since its a black jacket). The jacket has just been hanging there since I hate the pants (double pleated and outside of that, I dunno....they just fit and feel funny). I have another black suit which like but rarely use. I think I dislike the idea of having a jacket that I can't wear...

And yeah, I'm pretty sure the pants are beyond tailoring.

Final note: this forum is fantastic.

Here it is, slightly sharper. There's a sharper pic of the actual pattern earlier to get an idea. But yes, I can't seem to find a way to put 'brown' and 'classic' in the same sentence, but I think this would work some time in the fall to go out to the bars. Again, I'm a noob to all of this, so tell me if I should just throw it away and invest my time in something else. It was free after all.

New & Lingwood - how bad is the stuff that they produce for HoF?

For a suit jacket that is buttoned, how much space should there be from the body to the jacket in terms of space, both stand alone and when pulling the jacket away from the body. When I use my thumb and extend the jacket at the button away from the body, there seems to be 3 to 4 inches of space from the button to the body. Is that considered too much. I saw a article on 'a suitable wardrobe' which said there needs to be up to 3 inches, and other videos on you tube suggesting there should only be 1-2 inches.

I'll take a pic sometime tomorrow and post it on here to inquire further about the fit. I have a feeling that my suit fit, although above average, is still not good enough.

What type of collar is pictured here that makes it "stand up" so nicely like that?

If there were no blazer would this shirt collar sort of fall flat like much like here?

Sorry, probably a dumb question but I have an obsession with how collars sit. Mine never seem to do what I want.

It is a spread collar, most likely with metal collar stays.

I don't know the answer to your question apart from speculation that this has to do with the cut and fit of the jacket.

Where is this jacket from?
