They're great. I don't know of a better maker of swim trunks right now.

FWIW, you can find them cheaper on Yoox and eBay sometimes.

I've three pairs of the Bulldog model. I agree they're expensive but they look great by the pool (even if the rest of my sad, decaying carcass doesn't). I umm'd and ahh'd over getting a couple of pairs of the Setters for this year but have held fire so far.

Which type are you looking at?

Finally something I can answer since I'm a surfer.  Do you mean swim trunks like a speedo for swimming laps in a pool or for chilling on the beach and swimming in the ocean?

As a guy... the only answer to me is REAL SURF TRUNKS.

Buy from a SURF Company... Quiksilver, Billabong, Rip Curl, Hurley, even Patagonia.  They are so much COOLER!!!!

Ok these bulldogs are NOT the worst looking pair of shorts I've ever seen but they are no where as cool as real SURF Trunks.  Costa Rica is a surfing paradise, the majority of the guys will be wearing real Surf Trunks and for good reason.  And they all know someone wearing Surf Trunks is more into their culture, haha.  Ok maybe I'm getting a little too surfer about it.  But seriously...

If you like those Bulldogs which I think are $240...

You will probably like these QuiKsilver Surftrunks for $50.

Here are more

And if you wanna go crazy, check out this link.  It's got every surftrunk known to man on it.  You can even filter by length, brand, color, price range...

Sure thing, but you can't compare those to Orlebar bulldog? Much diffrence and I dont think they will have the same fit as they will.

What recommendations do you have for a casual shoe with all of the following characteristics:

--fits a custom orthotic-very important

--casual--I am looking for something just a step up from athletic shoes

--comfortable--good for walking around lots

--stylish but classic looking--with shorts or jeans

--somewhat lightweight if possible, though not the most important characteristic, good for summer

Where to look to for 2 workhorse suits for a fresh grad? Looking at sub-1k and located in Singapore btw...so mostly do not have access to american labels.

Would you say the Converse Jack Purcells fit the qualifications I listed above? Also, would you recommend leather or canvas JPs--and why?

Take a look at MMM Gats and CP Achilles.

I don't find chucks comfortable for walking a lot, I assume JP would be similar construction.

Found one in 85% Wool 15% Kid Mohair, quality = ?

Oh my, why would you look at American labels when you can have anything you want made to measure locally for 1K per suit, in nice tropical worsteds . . .
