Hi,

I am looking for a pair of shoes to wear casually with camel, blue and grey pants, in light brown/tan color, I found this model from Grenson :

http://www.grenson.co.uk/en_gb/shop/tom-1280

I like the shape, I was wondering if the color of the shoe will match the colors of pants I'm planning to wear them with?

Thank you.

Hi everyone, I'm planing on attending an evening wedding. I was thinking of a navy suit with a purple royal oxford shirt. What tie, pocket square, and color belt/shoes do you guys recommend?

Thanks!

I saw a few Brooks Bros. shirts in a TJ Maxx the other day which had a size tag stitched into the collar and the other tag just had the pig logo and made in the usa. The sleeves were all to short for me. Oxford cloth with no pocket. Any idea want this could have been? I can not find them on their website.

Hey I was hoping I could get some shirt, tie, pocket square combination help for a relative's wedding I have to attend. It is a two day event with the more formal event on day 2. Here is what I'm thinking. Please give feedback and criticism. If something doesnt work/isnt that good then let me know.

Day 1:

- Navy Suit
- Brooks Brothers Blue Shirt
- Burgundy Grenadine Kent Wang Tie
- Mustard Silk Pocket Square with Red and Blue design

I think the gold pocket square is a good combination with the blue shirt. Meanwhile, the burgundy tie works with the blue shirt.

Day 2:

- Navy Suit
- Brooks Brothers White French Cuff Shirt
- Dark Green Grenadine Tie
- Kent Wang White Linen Pocket Square with Red Edge

I'm thinking the dark green tie goes well with the white shirt. As for the pocket square, is there a better option than white ps on white shirt? I think the red edge is a good contrast though (?) with the dark green tie?

It's a sheep, not a pig.

my old boss, who was a bit plus sized, heard me complaining about the way brooks brothers stuff (didn't) fit me. He turns to me, deadpan and monotone, and says "You'll appreciate BB when you hit 45 or 250, ever notice that their logo looks more like a pig than a ram? That's intentional."

BTW they're opening up a BB in Princeton next to Hamilton Jewelers (where Lahiere's used to be). Thought you might care if only so you can go there and moon them.

That restaurant was good, it's a shame they got forced out by the new owners.

I have a question:

I know that a pocket square should not match the tie and agree it looks horrible. However, when picking a pocket square, it's recommended to pick a complimentary color. Does that mean a complimentary color to the shirt or tie? Or can it be done with either or?

Some would argue it should match the tie, but I prefer doing a contrasting color.

^ I've actually heard that it should match the shirt, not the tie, if it's going to match anything at all.  I also think this looks best.  But hey - what do I know?  Just my two cents.

Not many on here would argue that.

It should complement both. It should not compliment either. Squares, like children, should be seen and not heard. devil.gif

I recently acquired a dark brown Harris Tweed Jacket in a herringbone pattern. I want to throw some elbow patches on it but I'm having trouble deciding what color to get and there doesn't seem to be many options. Should I put dark brown elbow patches or use beige for more contrast? I can't seem to find any medium brown elbow patches online.
