It's perfectly acceptable to wear braces with belt loops, you know. Don't wear braces with a belt, of course. But belt loops? Not a problem.

Hypothetically if I were to get a 2nd which would you recommend as a classic equivalent of a navy suit
Something a bit more whimsical than your first set. Not that your first choice isn't a handsome set of braces, but there's nothing wrong with wearing something more lighthearted on occasion. Albert Thurston has a Jazz Collection of braces, and some of the choices do appeal to me - particularly the Green Brocade, the Sapphire Moire Braid End, and the St. George & The Dragon Ltd. Edition.

Usually, I go whimsical with a colorful pair of argyle socks. But doing it via braces works, too.

They probably mean suit. All of the women will be in Saris and men will most likely be in suits. But, would still call.

Do I need to use shoe trees in suede shoes or in leather boots (neither will have leather soles), or just in leather dress shoes with leather soles?

Thanks smile.gif

Use trees in any shoe/boot you wish to prolong life in.

Does anybody have a clue about the quality of Jay Kos tailored goods or knows who makes for them? I'm eying a SC right now and am trying to get a feel for what I am actually purchasing. Thx in advance icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

I can't comment on real tailored stuff, but I will say that about a year ago someone sold off a boat load of Jay Kos shirts on B&S (also on Ebay). I talked with them (can't remember who) and they were helping to liquidate a bunch of stuff because Jay Kos was moving stores. I picked up about 6 shirts at about $40-50 a pop and let me tell you, they were the bargain of the year for me. Fantastic materials - I mean really, really good cotton, cotton+linen, and cotton+silk blends with great construction. In retrospect, I wish I had gotten about 10 more. That's as much as I know, hope it helps.

Anyone know where I can find wool over-the-calf dress socks in a solid medium gray? I got the "dark gray" Pantherella pair that Sierra Trading Post has, but they are too dark for the suit trousers I'm trying to match.

What do you all think about these? Color is listed as Steel-gray, i'm not sure they're even available, i saw them at yoox. But im wondering if my sentiments of them are accurate. For context, wearing them with dark denim...

Anyone know where I can get a proxy for these shoes? Apparently only sold in Amsterdam and Tokyo:

I don't think these are so bad. The really ugly parts will be covered by the jeans. The rest seems OK.

A. You don't have to exactly match your trousers.

B. Really? You can't find grey socks? The internets are your friend.

I know I don't have to exactly match the trousers, but I'd like to get close in this case.

Of course I can find gray socks, but finding wool, over-the-calf dress socks in a gray lighter than dark charcoal is proving rather difficult.
