He can recommend you the best dry cleaners, albeit at a price of around 100-200 dollars per suit. 2. Yes. Find a good tailor. 3. Again, call Ian from shopthefinest.com and set up an appointment with him in his warehouse. That's your best bet around L.A. I can't really name any other stores that carry high-quality suits at low prices.

I am curious about the alignment of the stripes on this tie. I have seen several ties where the stripes do not line up with the point edge of the tie. To my eye, it looks better when the edge of the stripe aligns and follows the v-point edge of the tie. Is this a defect or is this simply common place?

Have a question. I've got what seems to me to be a strange body composition. I'm about six feet tall, fairly skinny, long limbed, with less than broad shoulders, but somewhat barrel-chested. I've always been described as "leggy." I've always had problems finding shirts, jackets, etc. that fit well. Stuff that fits my chest is usually too long and stuff that falls correctly on me is typically too tight around the chest. My question is this: I suspect that I'm short waisted, is there any way I can find out? Also assuming that I am, do you have any tips for dressing well with a short waist? I'm not really trying to camoflauge my body type, but dress in a way that works with it.

I have a heavy tweed SC and it came with horn buttons. I am thinking of switching the buttons to leather buttons. The buttons I want to use are these Are the buttonholes for leather buttons different in size to those for normal buttons ? Thanks for your help

Concerning the fit of dress shirts and suit jackets I know that neither should show pull across the back while stranding straight, but should I be able to wrap my arms around myself (essentially hugging myself) without there being any pull? Perhaps one arm to the opposing shoulder without pull? (Is there any comprehensive "fit" guide? I've been picking things up from reading here, but more specific rules of thumb would be useful)

What do you mean by too long? It's normal and expected that jacket sleeves will be adjusted. It's an easy and relatively cheap. If you mean the body is too long that's a different issue.

If you're legs are longer then average for you height that should be a simple thing to figure out. It's just a couple of numbers to compare. Or you could try on some S jackets instead of R. I assume you haven't been buying L length jackets?

Sorry, I meant too long in the body. Things like T-shirts or dress shirts that fit me across the chest usually fall almost to the middle of my upper thigh and are very loose and baggy looking around the middle. Things that fall correctly usually pull across the chest and shoulders and on long sleeves the sleeve will lay far above my wrist. As for my measurements I wasn't sure where to take them from, but I'm 72" tall, 34" inseam and 42" from the hip.

Hello - I am learning a great deal here... my first post: I picked up a Ravazzolo sportscoat in Las Vegas as an impulse (quick measurement and off to the airport), when the jacket arrived by mail it seems to be a bit wide in the waist. Does anyone know a good tailor in Salt Lake City?

I was tempted by a Ravazzolo Navy pinstripe suit also. The salesman called me last night to let me know that it was marked down 75% so I bought it as well, so there will be more tailoring to be done. These are my first high quality suits and want to be sure they are altered nicely.

Not sure exactly, but I recently switched some leather buttons for horn buttons (should've traded!

) and the button holes don't seem loose. Although, they do seem to be slightly larger (maybe by 10%) than most other jackets I own.

If the colors are too close together it can look too matched for most people. Wait, just noticed that you are from Canada. It's fine.
