How much do Allen Edmonds shoes stretch width-wise?

Just got a pair of dark brown Allen Edmonds 5th Avenues in 9.5 C (same last 5 as the popular Park Avenue). All the proportions are great except my toes on my left foot seem to be a touch wider so the shoes pinch a bit against my toes.

Is this a deal breaker, or can I expect the shoe to stretch and widen or break in more comfortably over a short period of time. I don't have much experience with how AEs break in.

If it's going to be a bad fit, any suggestions on similar shoes that would be narrow enough overall (come in C-width, etc), but might have a wider, more accomodating toebox?

You certainly took my "willing to spend" part to heart.

Thanks for the suggestion. Will look into them.

Is it better to go longer in the sleeve with shirts? Most places I'm a 32/33 sleeve length and they are a little long most of the time (bunch up through the arm).

I went to Brooks Bros. today and tried on their slim fit. The 32 was a pretty good fit. It came down a little bit below my wrist. If I rasied my hand above my head it was about an inch or so off my wrist. I think right now it's about perfect, but I worry about shrinking. I think a 33 would bunch up a lot in the arm.

Is it better to go longer and deal with it or what?

Can't really afford this tie at the moment. Anything cheaper (less than $30) and if someone could give me a link to a page to purchase, that would be great.

And I only have black dress shoes and black belt, with metal watch (silver dressy/conserv band).

Plain/solid 3 button charcoal grey suit and plain/solid lavender shirt.

Longer is better. The main reason you want your shirt cuff to extend beyond your suit sleeve is to protect the suit from the friction and resulting wear of rubbing on your hand or wrist. That, and the clear good looks of showing some flash of shirt color at the wrist. The "right' amount of shirt cuff to show is 1/4 inch. More and it gets too Gordon Geko, less and you look under-dressed.
Better off-the-shelf shirts are sized to exact sleeve by the full inch. Iroay that even though some very expensive shirts (Ralph Lauren Purple Label, for instance) show no length at all on some of their long sleeve shirts. I think this a European affectation... similar to not finishing trouser bottoms. Whatever the quality or make of the shirt, try to show the 1/4 inch at the sleeve under your suit or sportcoat for the best look and best wear.

Assuming that the shirt was non-iron, stick with the 32. They will barely shrink at all. We would get a better idea, however, if you post a pic.

Grenson Chertsey, would any one recommend these boots? How is the F fitting? The shop in the Andaz Hotel only has a 10.5, I'm a 10 with a wide foot. Would I get away with a 10.5? If so, I will take the time to go to the shop.
Bit apprehensive buying mail order, as I've never had a pair of Grensons, so don't know how they will fit. I just cannot stand the hassle of returning items.
Help appreciated.

What do people mean when they talk about last in shoes? Why is last so important?

The "last" is the wooden/plastic shape that the shoe was build around.

Custom/bespoke shoes is where the shoemaker make a wooden last of your exact foot shape and build a shoe around that.

Generic ready-to-wear shoes are a hit or miss for people for that reason. The last may be a good fit for some and a terrible fit for others.

That's why knowing what "last" the shoe was made from is so important.

If I fit a size 38R suit from brand A, would I fit the same size for brand B?

Maybe maybe no. You might not even fit with in the brand if they make different cuts.

Anybody have the W+H 25oz Field Jacket ? Just wondering how it fits and how warm it is?

Also, I'd love something like the Rag&Bone Svedke Coat but the price tag doesnt seem worth it to me. Any similar item people know of that wont cost as much?
