I'd drop the tie then. Tie without a jacket makes you look like a high school kid going to a wedding. Might work with a sweater over it. Or sweater vest.

Yeah good idea. I tried with a sweater, that was my original plan, but it was hot with the peacoat too, and I don't have a lightweight coat with me.

Thanks!

Then a very thin, lightweight v-neck sweater.

Which boots would you recommend between these two?

Option 1:

Option 2:

Would option 2 still work with jeans? Or would it look weird with the naked eyelets? I want something that would work with both jeans and wool trousers.

I think the plainer ones are the most versatile.

The second one, but mostly because the first is ugly.

Second pair.

I like them both. Depends on whether you want a dressier or more casual boot.

They'll both work with jeans, but the second pair would be more versatile for me.

I posted this to the newb forum earlier this week but didn't get an answer so retrying here.  Does anyone know the name of this weave type on one of my jackets?

Looks like twill weave.

Can someone help me identify these shoes? I assume they are C&J for RL. But any help on age, model, etc. would be appreciated.

I thrifted a nice tan trenchcoat today and the length is about 2 or 3 inches short of mid-calf, or 4 inches longer than knee level.

I quite like the length, as I think it looks classic and is functional, but since I'm 19, slim and 5 foot 10, I'm worried it might be too old mannish for me or might make me look short, and I was thinking of shortening it to about knee or 1 inch below the knee length. Should I do it or should I keep it as it is?

I've edited the above, to get to the crux of the matter.

You like the length. Assuming you have confidence in your taste and judgement, that means the length is fine. Don't go changing the length of something whose length you already like.

If you've little confidence in your taste and judgement, then post a photo of you wearing the coat in question - which is worth 1000 words describing the coat to us - and ask for opinions as to length. Then do whatever the majority want. Dress by SF opinion poll.
