Also, I'm curious what the consensus here is about the foreign ownership of Savile Row clothiers? As far as I'm aware, only two -- Henry Poole & Co. and Dege and Skinner -- are owned privately by relations and/or descendants of the original Savile Row proprietors. I did speak with both of these companies, as well, and they do offer bespoke shirting (and trousers).

I too am curious about the price and quality difference between old, family owned clothiers like Henry Poole & Co and newer, foreign owned ones on Savile Row.

I've bought a few RTW suits from Richard James - they have an outlet in London near Savile Row which apparently is pretty well stocked and RTW suits there run for about 400ish GBP. Half canvassed and quality is solid at that price point, you will need to check the suit fit as I feel their cut is pretty slim. Give that a shot if you're still looking at RTW.

I think it is the city shop but call them to confirm -http://www.richardjames.co.uk/contact-us.html

What the hell do I wear with these? My first pair of duo toned shoes. I made an impulse buy because the price was pretty incredible and I had flashes of Nucky Thompson's Forzieris going through my head. They're Allen Edmonds "Wells" model no 5033. I can't find any info on them but I plan on pinging customer service to see if the can shed some light on just what exactly I bought. Looks like a McGregor upper to me though... At any rate, I bought without considering where they fit in my wardrobe, so I could use some help/inspiration before I decide to return them.

Jeans or chinos, an open button-down shirt, and a big smile.  A confident, casual combination that will win a lot of approval.

Keep them.

I wonder if the Wells is/was exclusive to a single retailer like Brooks, Nordstrum, etc. it also reminds me of the RL x AE Sanderson.

In addition to Mimo's suggestions, I'd add dress pants or suits in casual fabrics like poplin, linen, and seersucker.

Just curious how are you guys going to pull this off? The toe box seem to be very different than normal shoes that I've seen here.

Return.

It likely wouldn't work well for soccer style place kickers but would be perfect for an old school straight ahead kicker.

Nobody's going to pull those off, unless you mean pull them off your feet, put them back in the box, and return.

Square toe shoes keep on surviving like ugly cockroaches, just refusing to go extinct even if everyone would benefit from it.

I swear if there's a nuclear apocalypse, the only things left will be cockroaches, Keith Richards and square toe shoes.:fu:

Leave it to your son, I think it wouldn't be 'out of place' in primary and secondary school?
And IIRC, someone on styleforum said that many women actually prefer square toe shoes crackup[1].gif
