With that said, take note that this is an approval out of necessity--of course, there are other brands that most around here would rather point you towards.

Thanks for the help. I'm sure that's the case, but I'm looking for something £100 or under at the moment and the big online retailers like Asos are perfect for that. I've narrowed it down to the following:

I think all of those look good, except for these:

http://us.asos.com/asos/asos-chelsea-boots-in-suede/prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=4302381&SearchQuery=chelsea&pgesize=30&pge=1&totalstyles=30&gridsize=3&gridrow=2&gridcolumn=1&utm_source=Affiliate&utm_medium=LinkShare&utm_content=USNetwork.1&utm_campaign=je6NUbpObpQ&cvosrc=Affiliate.LinkShare.je6NUbpObpQ&link=10&promo=324155&source=linkshare&MID=35719&affid=2135&WT.tsrc=Affiliate&siteID=je6NUbpObpQ-2NTPqB7aCl251iKL7nej2g&r=1&mk=VOID

These looks awkwardly short, like desert boot height.

Go forth, young padawan, and kop.

I'm sure this has been answered before. I see a guy anywhere is a brown sweater with brown shoes and a black trousers now to my untrained eye this looks okay but from what I read on the forums black trousers with brown shoes do not go together. Am I wrong please somebody help.

So i would like to wear a black shirt with grey trousers but i have no idea what tie to buy. Any ideas?

You are not wrong--I would not wear black trousers and brown shoes.

That is not to say that brown and black cannot go together. A tan suit, with a black necktie, and a white shirt can be a very rakish look.

In re black shirt and grey trousers--around these parts, black shirts are generally viewed as a no-no. Insofar as nothing good can come from a black shirt and tie, I am not going to answer the question.

Ok so what would you recommend i should wear if not a black shirt?

You can't have too many light blue shirts IMO. Always a safe bet.

Honestly, a light blue shirt is normally the right answer 110% of the time. Black shirts look like shit on the vast majority of people, as it really does no favors to your complexion.

How old are you, if you don't mind me asking?

Leaves: Jinx.

Man, in that case, I'll just leave you with a small anecdote.

I went to Christmas Formal at my High School in a black shirt, grey pants, and a shiny red tie. As far as I remember, I rocked it, had a great time, and ended up messing around with my date thereafter. Now is one of the few times in your life when you can dress ostentatiously and get away with it.

Most around these parts, myself included, adhere to some pretty anachronistic, traditional rules. Adhere to them if you wish. I think my date back then probably appreciated that my tie matched her dress. She probably would have cared less if I got a few thumbs up on the internet.

My date for the evening is wearing this dress... Any idea what tie would go with this dress to make her happy?

Well, I did not mean my statement to be taken so literal--I guess what I mean to say is, if you are set on a black shirt, and grey pants, really just pick what you think looks good. What is your budget, maybe I can tell you some place to look?

I could probably spend upto about £60

Bump. Can anyone help me make sense of this
