Quite. And even ignoring his politics I think the DoW often looked a bit too well dressed, if you know what I mean.

Oh, but what I wouldn't give to have that suit.

Oh, I have an actual question too!

What would you use to shine up some old cufflinks that have tarnished a bit.

I have a bunch that I like the looks of quite a bit, they are by no means valuable so I am afraid that if I go at them with toothpaste or a real metal polish it will hurt the cheapo gold/silvertone plating.

Hey guys, im looking for a nice and affordable suit for my school prom. I really just need a "starter" suit, i can wear for special occasions, but i dont want to buy something bad. I have read up a bit on what to look for in a suit but as you maybe can guess from the question im kinda new to buying suits, so if anyone could be so kind to recommend a suit or lead me in the right direction. hope you guys can help a newbie out, thanks alot.

i was also told that i was supposed to post a budget, which is around 200-300 $

Generally I'd say as long as you're not looking at something godawful, getting the fit right is more important, and in that regard, while pictures can let us help, it's probably best to read up some threads about fits with photos so you get a good eye for it and know what to look for, and perhaps taking part of your budget out for alterations.

Can SuitSupply's Jort suit (http://eu.suitsupply.com/de_DE/suits/jort-grau-unifarben/P3771.html?prefn1=collection&start=2&prefn2=styleFit&cgid=Suits&prefv2=Luxus-Jort&prefv1=Fall%2FWinter) be worn in a CBD environment or are cuffed trousers and blazer-style pockets inappropriate in this context?

how does one see the Jort? Everytime I click on that link, I get sent to the US site?

That would never have passed muster in the CBD thread once upon a time. Cuffs on trousers are fine, but not much else about that is.

I like no break trousers, but I'd feel like I was wearing capris in that!

Yes, SS habitually displays its suits on models for whom they're too small, in an effort, I suspect, to appeal to a younger demographic.

In this case it doesn't necessarily mean that the trousers would be too short on anyone else, of course.

Cheers,

Apart from the fit on this specific model, are the details cuffed trousers, lapel width, pockets etc. acceptable or should I be looking elsewhere?

Well, generally speaking yes, it'd be fine, but if you are really truly in a CBD environment then no, you shouldn't have patch pockets, it shouldn't have contrasting button holes and buttons, it should probably be a darker shade of grey, and just generally shouldn't be so obviously fashiony.

Does the rule that sweaters should be folded rather than hung so that there is no gradual loss of shape over time apply equally to cotton and wool?

I have seen hangers create divots in the shoulders of sweaters, cotton and wool alike. Aside from general sagging that is. I have avoided hanging my sweaters ever since...
