walnut strands

I would consider a burgundy tie with that.

can any of the new yorkers here recommend a good tailor, preferably one that's open on weekends?

Just do a search on yelp. There is a plethora of tailors in any Manhattan neighborhood. That being said, I would recommend Stanton Tailors in LES. It's a popular place because the prices are reasonable and have done great work with my items.

If you plan to go, go early or there will be a queue. They are closed on Sundays.

What is the distinction between Allen Edmonds' Independence Collection and their normal line? I see almost no difference despite the bi colored sole, vintage logo, and wheeled sole edges. Is the leather any better? For example, what makes the Harrison model $130 more than the Park Avenue?

I agree burgundy would look very good; I think the blue is sharp as well.  Either is good; I am not sure which would be better, dapperdoctor, for all the use that is, lol.

I think they use better lining inside the shoe along with a few other things. You should ask this question in the allen edmonds appreciation thread.

What is the trick to get a collar to do this (image from another thread). Starch the heck out of it, hidden button/snap?

Fashion anchors will help with that.  They are little 2-sided stickers that you can use to hold things like collars in place.  Pretty cool actually.  I guess other adhesives would work also.  You can Google "fashion anchor" to get info.

edit - I think I see what you mean now...the whole collar section is standing up.  Fashion anchors may not be able to do that much.  Perhaps put some Viagra in the washing machine when you clean the shirt?

For the collar, you can try magnetic collar stays, like Workin Stiffs or whatever the brand is called

I see "OTR" on this forum a lot. What does it stand for? Is it the same as "RTW"?

Ready to wear

But yeah, same meaning.

I like it!

Throw on a navy sport coat and you'll get away with a little fun in the chest pocket!

Please someone help. For about a week I have been trying to find this olive jacket that Gosling wears but to no avail.

Can anyone help me out please?

Buy a pack of 5 or 10. White handkerchiefs are as fundamental a staple as socks or underwear.
