Thinking about buying some red cream to put on a pair of black shoes.

Will I get a noticeable tinge under light with that? Not really thinking about making the shoes go all red just a slight interesting tinge.

How do I get my tie bar to stay straight? It's always drooping to one side.

Do I stop caring or do I look for better tie bars?

Does anyone know where to purchase tight leather gloves? I have long, thin fingers and every single pair of glove I try on at any store is too loose on me. That's not entirely because my fingers are rail thin (I mean, most gloves aren't skin tight anyway), but I would really like some tight gloves so I don't have to take them off every time I need to reach for something out of my pocket or whatnot.

Most glove makers take bespoke orders in the form of hand tracings.

The first time I traced my hands, it was a bit wide on the right ring finger area, but subsequent hand tracing seems to have fixed it.

But even on the first try the glove was excellent. Great leather and beautiful workmanship.

Hey all. I hope this is the right place to ask this question - looked like it. These are my Alden Indy 403s, purchased from the Alden store in NYC. I had to send them back for repair the first time after about 5 wears because some of the stitching was coming loose. The first pic (top left) is the repair on the outside of the right shoe that has stayed tight but doesn't look great. The other four shots are of the inside of the left boot which is coming undone again and the leather is frayed. Looks awful.

Care background: like I said, worn a few times with jeans or khakis. Never "off road" or in wet/snowy conditions. No motorcycle or other activity that would rub the areas that came loose. Kept clean, dry, and with Alden shoe trees in them. With the exception of this stitching they are great. Wish I'd taken pics before I sent them in the first time. They looked absolutely new and I was really surprised to see both boots with problems. Any dirt and such in the pics is a little dust since I haven't worn them in several months.

When I sent them in initially I suggested that there might be a defect and they should be replaced. They were instead repaired and this is what I have. I'm very dissapointed in this pair of boots and the quality control. For the price you pay for them I'd expect better. I will say that Alden's repair service was fast the first time.

Thoughts? Should I send them back to Alden again and press firmer for replacement? Has anyone else had a similar defect?

Do you have Syms/Century21 type store nearby? You could get a decent suit for ~$400-500 and spend the rest on getting the suit tailored

Just a Nordstrom Rack. I actually just went over there- found the perfect size 38 Hickey Freeman suit. Jacket fit perfect off the rack. Trou legs were a little big but easy to fix. But a size 38 means a 32" goddamn trouser waist which like two people have not to mention no tuck room. Fit about 3 inches too small there. Looks like a 38 inch shoulder and a 34 inch waist = MTM.

Send em back (with proof of purchase if you still have) showing the date you got 'em. Should get replacements. I say 'should' cos if you've worn them 5 times in 10years you might not have much luck.

CONUS = CONtinental United States (i.e. not alaska, hawaii or protectorates)

I appreciate the advice and that's exactly what I'm going to do. Looks like I wasn't clear on my description. I wore them 5 times before the stitching came loose the first time and I sent them in for repair. After I got them back I wore them 10 or so times but not in a while, hence the dust. They are less than one year old and I have the original receipt. We'll see how Alden handles it.

Whats the style of tying that bill hemmer on fox uses? It looks symmetrical so I'd think not the 4, but not huge like a full windsor. I don't know any other knots besides those two.
