I'm a short guy (just under 5'8"). Â While it's slightly embarassing asking for smaller sizes, I'd be even more embarassed wear clothes that swamp me. Â I'd certainly look tiny then.
I don't see why it's embarrassing to ask for smaller sizes--not at all. Perhaps if you had to shop for boy's sizes rather than men's; even then, big deal. Far more embarrassing to have to ask for super-fatguy sizes, which if one is super-fat, is what one must do. In most cases, your weight is something you can control; your height is not. Besides, some of the most dapper guys in history have been vertically challenged, blah blah blah... Disclosure- yes I am a "short" guy by some standards (5' 7 1/2" or so, and shrinking...), and have a wee little chip on my itty-bitty shoulder located somewhere down there. Truth is, I don't even notice it, except when I'm watching a football game surrounded by 6'+ goons on all sides. Frankly, I don't even think of a man as "short" unless he is under 5' 6" or so. And again, so what if he is? You are no less a man at 5' 5" than a man of 6'--just shorter. It is only a problem or a source of embarrassment if you make it so. End of rant.
