What shoes do you wear in a downpour?

maybe these won't work for everyone, but I myself have an absolute hatred of shoes that go above my ankles (I must have weird ankles because I get horrible blisters whenever I wear high tops or boots). Vans classic slip-ons in leather are essentially waterproof, even more so if you give them a once over with a waterproofing compound like the one they sell at vans stores. I don't know if you consider that stylish, but I like them as sort of a classic simple look.

Either way, these have been my go-to, casual rain shoes for the last 5 years, and I have no complaints. You do have to be sure you watch out for puddles deeper than a few inches, but i think that's true for anything that's not a wellington. So long as you don't step in something deep enough for water to come in over the top, you'll stay dry inside. My current ones are brown with an olive sole, but it looks like they discontinued that color.

If it's a day I'm wearing a suit, I wear the dress shoes that I would normally wear and add a pair of Tingly overshoes to the mix. On more casual days I wear my LL Bean Old Maine Hunting boots, or the camp moc version there-of!

I have an inexpensive pair of rubber-soled oxfords that I've treated with Nikwax waterproofing solution. The water beads right off, though you'll need to reapply every 6 months or so. It's my go-to shoe for inclement weather.

I also have a pair of Timberlands that I've treated with Nikwax as well. That's what I wear if its snowing or hailing.

My Lowa hiking boots, substantially waterproofed. :They're rugged, warm, comfortable. If it's a matter of just needing something in transit, I'll then also bring along the shoes I want to wear at my destination.

I wear these:

They came with a leather sole, but I had it changed for a rubber one after the original ones were through. I have been wearing boots like these for the last 12 years and only had wet feet once (because I didn't wax them that week...)! Great boots for walking the dog in nasty weather, through puddles and mud. Easy to clean and incredibly comfortable.

That's what rubber-soled shoes are for. Everyone should have a couple of pairs of rubber-soled dress shoes

I do, but they aren't as sleek and will easily throw off my whole fit
