Excellent question. For all the mensimageconsultant questions considered (not always posted because they might annoy, for example) and reliance on polls to get honest answers, asking about honesty of feedback never came up. It was realized that people aren't always told the cold, hard truth and that some "clothing nerds" seem to want to comment on construction and quality issues rather than the "Does it look good on me?" issue that usually is at least implied and can be answered with some confidence (though a clear picture of the face can be key). It isn't fun to have to play bad cop, but at least an image consulting perspective probably will be seen as considerate.
Easier reading/logical follow-up question: if you avoid pointing out the negatives, do you expect that someone else will?
