I really love this thread.

As I do the Cucinelli window.

But what really struck me was the image above- neat idea but would anyone really do the blue shoes with the blue sweater? Brave.

Alessandro Stella - bespoke shoemaker - Siena, Italy

one of my favorite finds in Italy was a tiny bespoke shoemaker in Siena who also makes the leather costumes for the Palio horse race

his traditional suede belts are just perfection (and only 58 euros) but I didn't have time to get a pair of shoes since I was late for an appoinment at the time I walked by the shop (ignore the belts in the window - he told me those were for Russian customers who like the cheesy look!)

the shoes in the window display were not his best shoes but I didn't have time to film all the ones he had in a closed cabinet in the shop because the flash was washing out the picture. He was working on an amazing pair of deerskin boots when I was there. Told me he took up the craft after he was gifted the tools of a 90 yr old shoe maker who passed away. He is EXTREMELY passionate about preserving the craft and teaches shoe making and leatherwork at local colleges

I bought 2 belts and will buy more via the mail

I HIGHLY recommend a visit whenever you're in Siena. He speaks fluent English as well (his wife from the UK)

he also designs traditional leather costumes for the Palio such as the ones below

I'm digging the Medieval look....some of these leather costumes were just stunning up close

Thank you, NorCal. I'll try and think about the shoe section next time.
A webshop is in the making, by the way (end 09 / beginning 10).

I don't know (2x). Maybe it's the Zeeland air. The (small) city of Sluis also has a three (Michelin) star restaurant.
