PSA: Ralph Darlton/Marlon shell wingtip bluchers - Page 2

I have the Darltons and also Aldens in cigar. I agree the Darlton is more of true dark brown whereas the cigar has avery faint olive (or some other tint I can't quite place) tint, but definitely not the same.

side by side Alden on left:

they are pretty much dark brown. The pics on shoebacca are accurate.

They also look "like a cigar", in that dark brown way, but among shoeheads Cigar is a specific color of Alden shell. In recent years Alden's cigar has that greenish tint, as previously mentioned.

So can anyone tell me if these are made by C&J and what last? Thanks.

I believe the RL Marlow is basically the C&J Ashdown - Last 341. I don't think the C&J version is available in brown though. Not sure if the Dalton wingtip is based on a C&J shoe or if it's just a special model they make for RL.

I have the 341 in a boot and I don't think they are the same as my marlowes. could be wrong though.

Interesting. My shell Marlows are a 12D and now that I've lost some decent weight I find to be a tad large. Yesterday the Ash in 11.5 came and I found them to be too small across the arch.

I'm usually a 12D but have sized down in some other PRL's to a better fit. Perhaps on this last I'm simply inbetween.

I might have kept them to see how they broke in, but my wife just did a shoe inventory and I'm on the shit list. Back to Shoebacca...

I just ordered the Marlowe. I used code MCFEB from http://www.mycoupons.com/coupons/shoebacca.com and saved 25%. This brought the total from $549 - $137.50 = $412.49

Does anyone own the Marlowe wingtips and Darlton wingtips? They look soo identical. Instead of buying the $795.00 from RL.com, I bought the Marlow wingtips from Shoebacca.com.

They only have 10D. I normally wear a 10.5D but it seems the Darlton and Marlowe run a little larger according to all the posts I've read. Good luck!

Can someone explain the difference between the Darlton, Marlowe and the Ash? I know that the Marlowe is a renamed Darlton, but what is the Ash?

I usually wear a 10D in everything. However, I have a pair of brand new 10D Darlton plain toe bluchers that I'm hesitant to wear because they're a titch too small. The toe box is just a little tight. If anyone has a new pair of 10.5s I'd gladly swap. I've also owned the wingtips, but the problem I had with those is that the two "sides" when laced almost overlapped which I've never had happen with any other shoes. Anyone else have this issue.
