700

My take from a trip to Edinburgh, Scotland.  Nothing too fancy:

Custom made scarf and tie (in MacAlister tartan)

Tweed pants from Walker Slater

Union Jack pocket square, ox bone collar boning and handkerchief from Walker Slater as well.

A nice bottle of whisky and a wool throw for the couch.

Just had my fitting at Anna Matuozzo two day's ago.  Go back in a month- will post photos then.

Looks like STF got a new shipment of Borrelli's and there was a 14.5 in there. It's striped so still not one of the elusive white or blue staples but that's ok. Picked up another Barba too. Will post when they arrive.

Hey guys, just joined. Trying to step up my wardrobe a bit and trying to save a few bucks, so I swung by the local thrift store and picked up this jacket, which I am now thinking is an orphaned suit jacket. I was browsing the sports coats area and saw this, then saw the label and figured a 6$ Brooks Brothers jacket was a good deal. What do you guys think? Is this a strictly suit jacket or could this be paired with a nice pair of (unmatched) slacks?

Thanks :-)

I can't tell what colour it is. If it's a navy, you can use it as a sports coat (you might want to consider substituting the buttons for horn).

Also, keep the top button unbuttoned; only fasten the 2nd one.

hard to see, but there is a really nice thin navy stripe, running through the middle of the brown stripe.

wow, this is great stuff-- the throw reminds me of the one over the chair in BBC's Sherlock. Good choices all, interested to see the tweeds and what you decide to pair with em.

I haven't seen Sherlock but I can understand why they would pick a blanket like this one- for the same reason I did!
The throw is great- it has lavender woven into it so that is doesn't get that wet dog smell.  I picked that up a a little kilt maker on Princes Street.

It's interesting that you should ask what I pair the tweeds with.  I am having a really hard time with that!  Looking back I should have bought the whole 3-piece suit, but I felt that living in Naples it would never get worn and that I should spend my money on a suit made here.  So far I have worn the pants just once with an ivory dress shirt that I had made in Thailand and a chocolate brown wool sweater and brown brogues.  Pretty safe.
