Toni, you're making me jealous because I ordered a pair of chukkas and they got lost / massively delayed in the post.
Well, I probably need chukkas more than you do - it's been snowing for the past three days. I imagine one can still wear loafers in Italy. I do hope your chukkas will arrive safely though.
I need to buy whisky for someone.. What do you recommend?
I know you were aiming this at cs09, but I'll chime in anyway as a big whiskey fan...
Do you know what the person likes? Whiskey is a pretty broad category. Scotch (highland, speyside, islay, blends, etc), Rye, Bourbon, Irish, Canadian, blends.... There's a lot of variation in the different types, and someone who is a fan of one may detest another. I'm a bit of an anomaly in that I like all of them. Most whiskey drinkers are not that way though. Many have one preferred type and don't care for the others very much. For instance, bourbon drinkers are not typically fond of islay scotches. I'm the exception to the rule, and I'm not alone, but it would help if you had an idea of what they like.
I'm getting the idea, that since I have no idea what whiskey they like (or if they even do) I should skip the whiskey idea. OK, I need another gift idea for an acquaintance. They're a friend but only as a result of business, so we don't talk so much personal stuff.
