Meh, I needed something I can walk the dog in, or shovel the sidewalk in. These sound like they are durable enough, and don't look super blobby (to me at least)

Out of curiosity, what is your favorite pair of boots?

not one in particular. the wingtip is not in line with the quarters on the trickers and several other british makers. this is a big no no. actually, nobody will notice when you wear them. probably, not even myself.

vass and handmacher make some nice ones...

as you confirmed, they are absolutely fine for your purpose.

New sole, new heel, new laces, and I think a new insole too, a clean-up generally, and of course a quick polish. Took about 6 weeks (which was the figure originally quoted) and the price came to £135 (plus postage which being within the UK was pretty cheap). Sorry, didn't think to take any "before" pics, but rest assured they did a nice job IMO.

Nice job, but why did they replace the insole? Seems like it defeats the purpose of having a welted shoes: i.e. you can replace the outsole easily without having to change the insole.

Even Vass doesn't do this occasionally on their budapester model.

I think I bought really ugly shoes... For $40 a good pair of beater shoes for the club isn't bad though. devil.gif
