Recent Purchases (Classic menswear - formerly Men's clothing) - Page 92

thanks!

the Attolini trousers are all from STF... so I don't have a new source for you. still not cheap at $400 a pop but so worth it.

you're right Ian rarely gets them but after I bought my first pair I get them whenever they come up. have only managed to accumulate 3 pairs though. they are so much nicer than all my other pants and to me exemplify true luxury. blow inco sartoriale, barbera, RLPL out of the water. The only other pair of pants I have that comes close are the Brioni slacks listed above - they were waaay nicer than expected and bought from ehaberdasher.

Is full retail at Vacca really $1200 as Ian lists? I believe people would pay that for them although I presently wouldn't consider it.

speaking of which, do you mind if i ask you where you got the Attolinis? i find them every now and then, but are difficult to get besides Shop the Finest, which has limited stock, and full retail at a place like Vacca

thanks for the info. i agree with everything you said about Attolini pants and hope you're not a size 34 i havent seen the full price pants at DV but Ian's estimates of MSRP on Attolini suits ($5-6k plus) are accurate based on what i've seen at DV in Miami.

interesting... and I have a 31" waist so buy the 32s or 30s (since they really always measure 31-31.5 - love that ian posts measurements), so no necessary

my theory has been that Ian's attolini pants are suit-separates or orphaned from the attollini suits. I'll have a better idea when my first Attolini suit arrives later this week (bought from Ian as well)!

Brasher Hillmaster GTX boots. The ultimate walking boot around these parts. Not necessarily for heavy hiking and backpacking.

Found a few more Yoox uber deals that came up out of nowhere. Cantarelli wool cashmere shepards check car coat, with suede elbow patches (much like the brunello shepard check jackets). $150. Also picked up a few avon celli sweaters that Ian had on sale. Still waiting for my MTM chelsea's to come in. and a new xbox 360 elite. the last one died after 4 years.

just got my new corneliani suit back from the tailor.

total plain staple grey suit (tagged as M grey, but it's more like a light charcoal).

in short: it is an _awesome_ suit. cost maybe 550 at C21 and worth every penny. i'm going back this week to look for more 54s.

the people on SF who say you should only buy fully canvassed suits from good makers? that.

3-day business trip to san fran... managed to catch the tail end (or the very beginning in the case of Wilkes Bashford) of the January sales:

Neiman - Zegna summer sportcoat 50% off, pair of JL Ashleys 50% off (favorite find of all!)
RL - BL cashmere sport coat ~75% off, C&J giffords 70% off, BL polo shirt full price - gasp
Wilkes - a few ties 50% off and a pair of kiton and brioni shirts 40% off
Brooks - BF suit 50% off with free tailoring thrown in (hemming, waist taken-in, tapering, functional button-holes added - not bad)

Also, after thoroughly canvassing the Barneys in San Fran and Chicago, I have decided I am not a fan. Great "sales" on what mainly seems like over-priced/trendy merchandise to begin with.
