Palm Springs - Page 2

Palm Springs became, demographically, very gay in the past few years. I'm not sure when it happened exactly, but I know a one gay couple that spend about half their time out there. They told me that there are several "adult day spas" in town - basically converted garden apartment complexes where you pay a day fee, say $25, for entrance. The scene inside is an all-nude cruising scene by the pool. Aparments are available for rent by the hour, and there are "massage" rooms also available for rent. It's like a gay theme park. I grew up in a Laguna when it was pretty gay, and I lived in San Francisco for a few years, but Palm Springs wins the award for most gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

How and when did Palm Springs become so gay? When I was a younger man, it was mostly just geezerville. I went down there to some dog shows about 11-12 years ago, and my wife and I spent the night there once about the same time when her boy was in a rock-climbing tournament. I didn't get any gay-ish vibes then, although I don't have the best developed gaydar in the world.

I wonder if the annual Dinah Shore Women's Golf Tournament didn't really open things up. Every lesbian in SoCal converged on that for awhile...and may still for all I know.

How about a trip to the Liberace Museum in Las Vegas?

After all the negative feedback we decided it would be easier and quicker to just charter a seaplane and take her up to Victoria for a few days to shop for antiques. Still a lot of old people but at least I know of a few interesting things I can do to pass the time.
