I just bought the ET2 50cc Vespa. Anyone else on here have one or a similar one? How do you like it?

And just so this passes the styleforum clothes-relation test - what should one wear while riding a vespa. I feel like I need a lots of tweeds and leather patches...

My wife bought a Yamaha Vino about a month ago. One week ago, she was going through a four-way stop when a toothless man, riding a bicycle with no handlebars, ran through the stop sign and T-boned her at full force. He knocked her on her ass and she broke her tibia (intra-articular knee fracture). ****** then rode off without giving any of the witnesses his name.

I think a good philosophy when riding these things is "everyone is trying to kill you".

The toothless man story sounds like something out of a dream. Alice in wonderland except on modern drugs, where toothless men cycling on handlebarless bikes t-bones scooter riders. lol.

As for the lisence issue - because my vespa is under 50 cc (its 49cc) I just need a regular drivers lisence to drive it.

Will Field, the owner of Field's English Custom Tailor in DC is the president of the Vespa Club here. I'm sure he can give you some tips and pointers... (202) 333-2222 is his number...

I've got a 50cc vepsa ET2 as well. 5000 miles and 4 years later, it's still my reliable daily rider. I'm gonna sell it for a giant flat-screen tv once I no longer need it for the commute to school.

In Calif, you still need the M-class (motorcycle) license for the Vespa since it doesn't qualify as a moped (no pedals).

About the issue on what to wear... I suppose it depends on whether you the want the road rash on your ass to match your suit, or relatively minor bumps and bruises to match your proper riding gear. At least the styleforum mantra of never being that flip-flop wearing douche is particularly applicable in this situation.

If you want some good looking riding gear that doesn't make you look like a possibly gay power ranger trying to overcompensate, I highly reccommend looking at the clothes by REVIT! and Tucano Urbano.
